Author's Note: This piece is about my horrible accident of falling off my bike, it explains my writing skill (descriptive words)
Have you ever heard the grinding of your teeth to the ground? I’ll take you back and we can go through this together. One nice spring day It was a cleaning day for my household. I just finished all of my chores inside the house. I was going to go help Alex, Eric, and my dad wash the car. Once I got outside my brother pointed out a Pizza Hut delivery guy. He was speeding and a police caught him. My dad dared the boys to get their bikes and ride past the scene. The boys were to chicken, so I got my bike and rode down the driveway.
Before crossing the street I looked left, then right, then left again. As I was going up the driveway that belongs to our neighbor. I was close to the curb, too close! My bike stopped and I went over the handlebars, with no one to see what happened my teeth shattered. After this all happened I screamed, but I didn’t cry much. Surprisingly it didn’t hurt that bad, just my wrist and below my nose because I had cuts there. I got up and I ran back to my house and my dad took me inside and showed me to my mom. First thing she said was “What happened?” of course my dad said “I have no clue!”
My mom took me in the bathroom, while my dad got a cup full of milk and went outside to pick up my shattered teeth. My mom got a ice pack with a washcloth around it to put on my mouth. My mom got the phone and called the hospital, afterwards she called the dentist. I had to wait until 6 o’clock, so while I was crying my mom picked me up put me on her lap and we watched TV until 5:30.
Once we got to the dentist’s office he took me in, took the shards or teeth bits and piece by piece put my teeth back together. My parents believe that our dentist is a miracle worker, I believe that too. My dentist has fixed my teeth so many times from being knocked out by basketball, soccer, falling out for no reason (which has happened).
I have had to get many surgeries, and many different people have worked on my teeth. The doctors that have worked on my teeth are doctors of the dentist, endodontist, periodontist, and orthodontist. I’ve had root canals, banking the roots, I know that doesn’t sound like much but it truly is.
What the doctors want to do is get implants, which would be taking the rest of the root out then putting in a fake root. The fake root would be connected to my jaw bone, and I would have fake teeth and roots. The only reason we can’t have the implants done now is because when your mouth grows your jaw bone moves back and all your teeth you have in would look normal. The implants are connected to the jaw so your fake teeth would look weird because they are up so far compared to your other teeth.
To know if my jaw bone is done growing the orthodontist will take x-rays of my mouth when I am sixteen. Right now I have fake plastic teeth that my braces are holding in. The reason for the plastic teeth is so I don’t have to go without teeth until I am sixteen. I am not allowed to drink soda because it could ruin my fake teeth. I’m not so sure that I will be able to not drink soda until I’m sixteen. J
Now I have taken you through how this all happened, but you still didn’t hear the noise did you? Please don’t try to hear your teeth scraping and grinding against the ground, it’s not a very pleasant thing to hear!
