What's The Difference Between a Nursery Rhyme and Real Life?

Author’s Note: The reason I wrote this passage is because I wanted to share the cause and effect of the book “And Then There Were None” with my fellow friends. Pay close attention to the cause and effects and the way the paragraph flows.

There are many cause and effects to the book And Then There Were None. During dinner one evening, the guests notice ten soldier boy figurines on the dining room table. Each guest acknowledges that someone had died, but denies any capability of eliminating that person. The guests realize they have been tricked into coming to the island, each of them lured with something special to them, like a job opportunity. Unfortunately, they soon find they cannot leave; the boat which regularly delivers supplies has stopped arriving because of the storm.  Everyone on the island knows that the supplies has stopped, they believe that  they are murdered one by one, each death the same as a verse of the nursery rhyme. Every time a person dies then one of the figurines is mysteriously being removed.

A cause would be the death of Anthony James Marston died from poison in his drink. The effect would be, everyone going crazy on who did it and each character  is struggling to keep a grip without losing control. Also the cause is the bad weather, the effect is the ten people are stuck on the island without resources from land.

The Boys Just Can’t do Without Running!

Author's Note: The reason I wrote this personal narrative is to spark emotion in you, pay attention to the reading skill level and also the descriptive  words.

Do you know if blood can stain a gym floor? Well, I know the answer to that question, and I will tell you how this all happen so you can have a remark…..  This all started in third grade, all my friends were going to the sock hop. So I said to my mom that I wanted to go. My mom didn’t believe it was the best to go, because last year people were mean to me. Finally my mom gave in saying “Sure I’ll let you go.”

Once I got there, obviously there was a list of rules that they made all the little kids read. The first rule was “No Running.” I was so happy to be there, I took off my shoes put them in a pile with my parents. Of course, the first thing I did was had my mom help me find my friends. Once I found then we went and looked at all the cookies. It wasn’t surprising that the first food I went for was cookies.

The next thing my friends and I did was go into the gym and started dancing. When you were younger did you do that thing when you would hold your friends hands, and spin until you fell? Well that’s what my friends were doing, so I followed them. Once I fell on the floor I thought “This is awesome!” I wanted to do that again so we stayed in the gym and danced and danced some more. It was surprisingly very amusing! After dancing for a long, long time we went over to the kitchen to eat something. I had a hamburger and so did almost all my friends. Once we were done with dinner we went back to dance yet again.

We did the same thing, dancing for fun. After a while it wasn’t fun, with what was about to happen.  Once I fell down for being dizzy, I started to get up and I saw a little boy running, he tripped and we hit heads. My head got a huge cut that was bleeding. The little boy got a bruise, all I remember was a little boy running that was the last thing I saw before I blacked out. I got up and I had a huge headache, I stood up and I started walking towards the exit door saying “Mom!”

As I was heading toward the door, I looked up and saw a man. The man was standing there frozen, with a wide open mouth. Saying “Oh my!” I didn’t know who he was so my natural instant was to turn around and walk away. Automatically I walked away because you never talk to strangers!  He grabbed my shoulders and took me to the nurse’s office.

After being pulled into the nurse’s office, she sat me down on a chair. A few little kids came in the door asking if I was ok. The nurse told them to go and get my mom; a very short time after my mom had walked in saying “Oh No!” When my mom cried ‘oh no’ with a crumbling voice I knew it was bad. At first I just thought that I had hit my head and it was nothing, but hearing the way my mother had exclaimed saying ‘oh no’ I knew that it was something serious.

After having my mom come in, she stood next to me saying “How did this happen, who did it?” I had no answers. I was still trying to think about what had just happened. My mother in panic mode had said to the nurse, “Does she have to get stitches!” The nurse took awhile to answer the question, cleaning off the blood that had started to dry. Finally she answered saying “Yes” Nothing more or nothing less than just a yes. After hearing the word stitches I was worried, not knowing what stitches are I asked my mother. “Stitches are when the doctors make your boo-boo go away” my mom said with the sweet whisper. That very whisper calmed me down, every night talking in that special whisper made me go to bed.

As we walked out of the nurse’s office my mom had to clear the way because all the little kids were blocking the door, waiting to see what had happened.  I remember having to hold an ice pack to my head where I had the cut. All the kids were staring at me, I felt as if I did something wrong. We walked straight out of the gym and went to the area where you eat food, my dad was there. Not knowing what had just happened, he was sad to see what had happened. My mom talking saying “We have to take the car to get stitches, so can you find a ride home with someone else?” In shock my dad agreed, my mom helped me find my shoes and go to the car.

Now in the car, mom put on my seat belt and we went to the nearest emergency room. After parking, we quickly marched in.  Sitting me down at a seat then walking up to the desk asking for the wait time. There were many people in the waiting room, many elderly people. My mom came back, I distinctly remember my mom crouching down to my height in the chair and said “It’s alright Sydney, they’re gonna fix you right up!” After waiting for thirty minutes, my mom went back up asking again how much time. Once done asking how much time is left, my mom came back and stood me up speaking “This is going to take too long in the waiting room, we are going to a different emergency room.”

Being pushed from the back into the next emergency room, we walked in and there was no one there. My mom was so excited; she said that means that there is more time for me. They put numbing gel on my forehead, putting me back in the waiting room for it to soak in.  After waiting in the waiting room for an hour, we went back in to get the stitches on. The doctor still was going step by step “Now we are going to take off your big band-aid and put stitches in.” I was worried, squeezing my mother’s hand so hard it had turned red. After taking off the band-aid he was looking at my head, touching my head to see if I could still feel it. He was asking “Can you feel this?”

Once he passed me to get stitches, he left the room with an easy stroll. Then a few minutes later he came back with some black thread, a needle and something that looked like a mini pair of scissors. He took me every step of the way. After that was done he gave me a pink puppy with a red heart nose. I was so energized form getting the puppy I wanted to go back to the dance; my mother said “I think that was enough dancing for one night.”

Obviously now that you've head the story i think we can all safely assume that blood can stain the gym floor. The blood was on the floor for so long it had gotten under the finish, the school staff had to take off the finish in that spot and clean the floor then they put new finish in the floor.

When Talking to the Founding Fathers What Would You Say?

Author's Note: The reason I wrote this passage is to think back to our founding fathers, pay attention to the way I wrote the story (Talking to each of the founding fathers)

When I talk to the presidents, there would be many things I would want to say. Stating the fact that they had started our government. A few things that have changed is the campaigning. The thing that has change is the campaigning, dirty campaigning is when one person running keeps talking negatively about the other person they are running against. For example a commercial sent out by one person and is talking dreadful about another person. I believe that we don't need to have campaigning be this way, it doesn’t need to be mean. You can be kind and still win to be the president. There might be some bad ideas of the government but there are also good ones too. One good thing that we have done is giving lots of foreign aid to countries in need. Giving foreign aids to another country is very kind, at least I believe so. Think of it this way, if you were to see a little toddler crying because he dropped his one lolli-pop. You wanted to help and you chose to give him/her one more because you have 3 more.

If I were to talk to Ben Franklin, I have something different to say. One of the things I can talk to Ben about is his inventions. When Ben took a kite out, during the thunder storm, it wasn’t the brightest idea. When he got struck with lighting it really sparked something into him that made him figure out energy.  Although your inventions may not have made since back then, they have unlocked many keys to our generation. Congratulations, you did something that really helped figure out a lot of ideas, and inventions. As I gave a huge hand shake to Ben, I would say these words with a big smile on my face and a warm heart.

Another founding father was Alexander Hamilton. He was the first United States Secretary of the Treasury. Also he was killed in a duel by Aaron Burr. In 1804, Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr met on the dueling grounds. When the match was over, Hamilton was seriously wounded, and Burr was wanted for murder. Why did you get in a duel with Aaron Burr, was there something he did to you that made you want to have a duel with him? Did Burr do something in the past that made you risk your life to duel Aaron? I would ask these questions to Alexander, because I believe you don’t need to fight with a perfect stranger or maybe not such a stranger.

John Jay was the first Chief Justice of the United States. Jay was born into a wealthy family of merchants and government officials in New York City. Talking to John Jay would be interesting, I would ask how it was to be the first Chief Justice in the United States. Was being the first Chief Justice complicated? Did you have anyone to lean on, if things would be troubling?

These men, which have helped us in various ways, are our founding fathers. Now what happens when you hear the words Founding fathers? Making our country what it is today, hopefully you remember the founding father because I sure will. If we didn’t have them, think about what our world would be like?

When I say “Our Founding Fathers” who pops into your head? May it be Thomas Jefferson, John Jay, or George Washington? Many people pop into your head although by what they have done in their life depends on whether or not they are a founding father. If they came back to life and were to talk to you what would you say?

When I talk to the presidents, there would be many things I would want to say. Stating the fact that they had started our government. A few things that have changed is the campaigning. When The Ten Little Indians Come To Play!

Authors Note: The reason I wrote this story is to tell the conflict of the book I am reading "And Then There Were None" Pay attention to the descriptive words.

"And Then There Were None" by Agatha Christie is about ten people, who have previously been involved in the deaths of others but have escaped without punishment. They are tricked into coming onto a mysterious island. Even though the guests are the only people on the island, they are all mysteriously murdered one by one. The ten little Indians have come to play and make sure you don’t escape. There is a man vs. man, which would be the killing of each person. There is a man vs. nature, which would be that all ten people that came to the island can’t go back to establishment because of the sea. Also there is man vs. himself, because many members of the ten people are struggling with themselves that is because of what they have done in the past.
